I am an Accredited Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversities Therapist with Pink Therapy. This means that I have met the Pink Therapy standards in terms of knowledge, training and experience working with LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Asexual +) clients to have my counselling work accredited.

I also identify as a queer woman, am a trans ally and am committed to social justice.

Are you looking for a counsellor experienced in working with LGBTQ clients?

It can be challenging for many people who don't fit the presumed "norm" to strive to come to terms with being, and living as, sexually diverse and/or gender diverse. This can be due to society being heteronormative and cisnormative where, unless we state otherwise, we are assumed to be straight and cisgender.

Through my work with MindOut, Allsorts and LGBT Switchboard, I am aware that LGBTQ issues vary drastically, as each person is on an independent journey.

What is Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity Counselling?

In my practice I use the theory of Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Counselling, which is recognised as a more modern and broader approach than traditional LGBTQ Affirmative Counselling. I feel this approach more openly accepts numerous identities and practices. Rather than affirming a label or encouraging "coming out", GSRD counselling explores who you are and how you want to live your life, and who you want to know about your gender and sexual feelings and relationship diversity. This can sometimes include labels but is not restricted to this.

What if I want to talk about other issues not linked to my gender/sexuality?

This is absolutely fine and welcomed. Although Gender and Sexual Diversity may be part of who you are, many people choose to come to my practice to talk about other issues not directly linked to their identity. Above all, my approach is about providing a safe and open-minded space to enable you to express who you are or want to be without the fear of prejudice and judgement.
