LGBTQ Inclusion is a term thrown around a lot, but what does it actually mean?

In this workshop I will work with you to think about how you might be able to make changes to help attract and include LGBTQ clients in your counselling practice/organisation.

Some of the questions we will explore include:

  • Why it is problematic to use the word ‘preferred’ when asking about pronouns

  • Why we might not write that we work with ‘both’ genders

  • Why a female client being married to a man does not tell us what their sexual orientation is.

We will also look at practical steps you can make to your paperwork, website and directory profiles, as well as organisational changes you can suggest be improved, such as toilet facilities and waiting areas.

Please note: this workshop draws on some of the ‘ways forward’ material originally covered at the end of each workshop in my June 2020 workshops.
